To get the best possible edit, our team needs high-quality source files. We offer two ways to share your media: a direct uploader for quick files and an External Link option for massive projects.

Here is a guide to supported formats, size limits, and how to use our storage features effectively.

1. Method 1: Direct Upload (Best for smaller files)

For individual video clips, images, or audio tracks, you can upload directly to the request card.

  • How to do it: simply drag and drop your files into the Upload Media box on the "Video Source" step of the request wizard.

  • Recommended Size: We recommend using this for files under 1GB.

  • Supported Formats:

    • Video: MP4, MOV, M4V

    • Images: JPG, PNG, WEBP (for overlays and B-roll)

    • Audio: MP3, WAV, M4A

    • Documents: PDF, DOCX (for scripts)

2. Method 2: External Links (Best for Large/4K Footage)

If you are recording in 4K or have a multi-camera podcast setup (where files can easily exceed 10GB or 20GB), the browser uploader may be too slow.

Instead, we recommend using the External Links feature. This allows you to provide "Unlimited" footage without worrying about upload timeouts.

  • How to do it:

    1. Upload your raw footage to your preferred cloud storage (Google Drive, Dropbox, Frame.io, or WeTransfer).

    2. Copy the Share Link (ensure permissions are set to "Anyone with the link" or "Editor").

    3. Paste the URL into the External Links field in the request form.

  • Benefits:

    • No Size Limits: You can link to a folder containing terabytes of data if needed.

    • Faster Submission: You don't have to wait for the upload to finish in the dashboard before submitting the request.

3. Best Practices for Assets

To ensure your editor understands exactly what files to use, follow these tips:

  • Organize Your Folders: If sending a Google Drive link, organize the files into sub-folders like Camera A, Camera B, and Audio so the editor doesn't have to guess.

  • Naming Conventions: Rename generic files like C0015.MXF to something descriptive like John_Interview_CamA.MXF.

  • Brand Assets: You do not need to upload your logo or fonts to every single request. Please upload these once to your Brand Kit so they are automatically applied to every order.

Troubleshooting Uploads

  • Upload Stuck? If the progress bar hangs, check your internet connection. If the file is very large, cancel the upload and use the External Link method instead.

  • Wrong File? You can remove an uploaded file by clicking the trash icon (🗑️) next to the file name.
