Formulas and assumptions
This tool uses simple, transparent math:
Total impressions = downloads per episode × episodes
Adjusted impressions = total impressions × (fill rate ÷ 100)
Total advertising cost = (adjusted impressions ÷ 1,000) × CPM × ad slots
Cost per episode = total cost ÷ episodes
Real-world buys may also include minimums, make-goods, and network fees. Use this calculator as a planning benchmark, not a contract.
Ad revenue depends on audio quality
Advertisers care about clarity, consistency, and professionalism as much as download numbers.
Even a well-targeted podcast can struggle to attract or retain sponsors if the audio is noisy, inconsistent, or hard to follow. High-quality production makes it easier for sponsors to hear their message the way listeners do.
Better audio often leads to higher listener retention, stronger host reads, and more confident sponsors. Over time, that can support higher CPMs and more repeat bookings.
